Essential Elements Of A Successful Social Media Marketing Campaign

Essential Elements Of A Successful Social Media Marketing Campaign

The concept of social media marketing is not so new for marketers anymore. Word of mouth marketing has been around for ages. The basic principle behind it is to generate a peer-to-peer product or content recommendations or buzz.

Social media marketing exists to build connections with people, causes, and brands through engaging posts and videos. Many times, you have shared “how to”, funny or sad posts amongst your friends. While doing this you are helping social media posts to go VIRAL.

Here are the essential elements of social media marketing that will boost your posts to viral marks.

Stimulate strong emotional response:

To create a “buzz” from your target audience, your content must have an emotional appeal. It could be humor, shock, sympathy, surprise, bewilderment, curiosity or astonishment.

Social media marketing is 100% about emotions. To create a strong appeal, you need to:

    • create content which is filled with love, or betrayal, or triumph, or spite.
    • spotlight a hero, or a genius, or an idiot
    • create content that makes people happy or critical
    • ensure content is current and relevant:

To influence, keeping content current is the basic step in developing a social media marketing campaign. Viewers want exclusive content, so come up with fresh ideas that are engaging, and at the same time provide value.

The content used must always be relevant, but for something to go viral, it needs to be relevant to your target audience.

This doesn’t mean it needs to appeal to a specific side, but instead, it should be something that draws conversation from multiple sides.

    Reach your audience:

The very first step in creating any marketing campaign is to find out who your target audience is and where they are active. Nothing goes viral on its own, you need to send the right message to the right people.

Your message needs to create interest if you want them to share it with others. Similarly, the channel selected for running the campaign holds equal importance. If you are marketing in the wrong channel, then you won’t be able to reach your targeted audience and won’t be able to peak their interest.

    Creativity Is A Must:

To make your content go viral, think outside the box. The traditional methods may work to bring in some sales and traffic, but it won’t fuel your content to go VIRAL over the streams of the internet. If you want people to notice your marketing campaign, you need to do something unpredicted – something different. People won’t bother to have a look if they know someone has done it before. People always want to see or learn new things.

    Content Must Be Shareable

    Go VIRAL, Man!

Lastly and most importantly, to make your content go viral you must make it easy to share and download. If it isn’t easy to share then it won’t reach the maximum audience share – costing in sales and revenue losses.

Creating viral content is part strategy and part luck. There are variables that really can’t be controlled. However, if you use the elements mentioned above and start by making content go viral with your immediate networks, the chances of your content going viral increase greatly.
